In 1965 I was trying to pay for college, and to have a choice about my military obligation, and the Navy had a win/win offer. They took a picture to celebrate my enlistment.

In 1969 I finished Auburn with a BS in applied physics and at no out-of-pocket expense to me or to my family. The Navy took another picture, this one to send to my mom.

In 1972 I got assigned as the Weapons Officer. The skipper elected to frock me as a Lieutenant, so I needed a new ID card. They took another picture. Things were starting to get salty.
